..[ The Hobbit review - movie, computer game and board game ]..

Filed under: Uncategorized —— jeremy @ 10:18 pm

Movie

The movie’s animation was fairly good for the seventies, although seemed almost funny compared to the technology we are used to these days. The relation to the book was excellent, except I think it was made more for children. It also gives you alot more understanding of the book aswell.

Board Game

The board game was fun at the start but got boring fairly quickly. It takes a very long time to actually finish the game and I think most people would just stop playing after about 20 minutes. It’s relation to the book wasnt all that great either.

Computer Game

The computer game was alot of fun. Its relation to the book was excellent just like the movie, but reading the book first will make playing the game a fair bit easier. All the levels were named after all the chapters in the book. The computer game is a great way to understand the book alot more because you actually get to go on the adventure as bilbo and fight wolves and goblins, and gandalf and the dwarves help you on the way etc. The graphis were quite good. The level of violence is fairly low. I think it is ranged to people aged around 8 - 14.

..[ Poem - My Country ]..

Filed under: Uncategorized —— jeremy @ 10:44 pm

I love a sunburnt country,
The land of green and gold
With many sports and games,
Competing is in our soul
With Ford and Holden races
And the Formula 1 grand prix
Great music played across the land
Australia’s the place for me

A land of smoking chimneys
Creates devastating pollution
The muddy littered rivers
Is there no solution??
Broad, busy bulldozed acres
Once wastes of fern and trees
Now rapidly enriching
 Investors overseas

I lover her golden beaches
The dark, starry night
Her ragged mountain ranges
The home of vegemite
Her love of cricket
Brings the great Don Bradman,
Home to the 2000 Olympics
With the amazing Cathy Freeman

A music loving country
With great sounds across the land
The home of AC/DC,
The greatest ever Aussie band
I lover her shining crystal sea
Also the hopping kangaroo
I love the afternoon barbeque
‘Tis the place for me and you

..[ Book review: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ]..

Filed under: Uncategorized —— jeremy @ 7:39 am

The book I chose to do my book review on is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, It is the third book in the series. There are 6 books so far. The author is Joanne Kathleen Rowling (also known as J.K. Rowling). She was born in Chipping Sodbury near Bristol, England in 1965. She has won the Hugo award, th eBram Stoker award, the Whitbread awardfor best childrens book as well as many honors. In america there are over 103 million books in print, each title has been number 1 on the New York times, USA today and Wall st. journal bestseller lists. The book is about Sirius Black who is actually Harry’s godfather, escapes from the prison of Azkaban (prison for wizards) and goes to Hogwarts to find Harry. But Harry believes that Sirius turned against his parents and lead them to Lord Voldemort but it was actually someone else..

I liked this book because it was full of adventure, magic and surprises and you could not put the book down because you never know what is going to happen next…

..[ Juggling with Mandarins ]..

Filed under: Uncategorized —— jeremy @ 5:37 pm
Once you have set up your blog and figured out how you want it to look I would like you to write an entry about Juggling Mandarins. What issues do you think the book deals with? What parts did you enjoy and why or why not? Are there any bits you don’t understand? Who was your favourite character and why? Did you think that the ending regarding Pip and Katie would be different? Why is the book called Juggling Mandarins?
My favourite part of the book was when Pip first went into the igloo to explore it before it had even been opened.
There wasn’t any parts in the book which I didn’t understand.
My favourite character would have to be Pip because I think I can relate to him quite well and I can understand what he is going through.
I think that Pip and Katie should have worked things out and become friends again.
I think the book is called Juggling with mandarins because it is about the way Pip juggles his life…
